Zeus is the god of thunder, sky, and ruler of both humans and the Olympian gods in ancient Greek mythology. As the son of Cronus and Rhea, he overthrew the reign of the Titans and established the dominion of the gods over the world. His legends date back to the second millennium BC, older than the ancient Greeks themselves. Famous for his numerous love affairs and the resulting offspring, Zeus's symbols include the thunderbolt, eagle, and oak tree. The oracle at Dodona, where a sacred oak tree was said to utter prophecies, was one of his main worship centers. Even today, his name and image continue to symbolize strength and authority.
